The USS ADAMS Museum recently partnered with the Museum of Science & History (MOSH) to store historic naval artifacts and equipment needed to restore the USS CHARLES F. ADAMS (DDG-2) until the historic naval warship is back in Jacksonville and ready to open as Jacksonville’s newest attraction and Florida’s first naval warship museum.

The Jacksonville Historic Naval Ship Association (JHNSA) has collected several historic artifacts that require specialized and climate controlled storage until the ship is prepared for their reinstallation and display. The JHNSA continues to collect materials for the refurbishment of the ADAMS, slated to arrive in Jacksonville in 2015.

The Commodore of The USS ADAMS Museum, Joe Snowberger says, “We are very grateful for the collaborative partnership with an already established and well respected Jacksonville museum.  The MOSH and other members of Jacksonville’s Cultural Fusion have offered all kinds of advice, good council and support for the successful opening of the future USS ADAMS Museum.”

MOSH Executive Director Maria Hane is committed to fostering innovative and collaborative cultural ventures. “As the City’s largest and most visited history institute, MOSH is dedicated to preserving history to create a sense of place for residents and visitors to our area.  We are happy to partner with The USS ADAMS Museum and look forward to welcoming the ship to Jacksonville when it arrives.  This new attraction will only strengthen the significant economic impact arts and culture entities have on Jacksonville.”

The Museum of Science & History (MOSH) is located at 1025 Museum Circle near Friendship Park in Jacksonville, Florida. MOSH, first chartered in 1941, is a 501(c)(3) organization that inspires the joy of lifelong learning by bringing to life the sciences and regional history.  JHNSA is also a non-profit whose mission is to obtain the ex-USS Charles F. Adams (DDG-2), a retired U.S. Navy destroyer, from the Navy and open The USS ADAMS Museum (www.USSADAMS.com www.vimeo.com/96202134 ) in Downtown Jacksonville in 2015.
