Some of you may have believed “the” funding for The USS ADAMS Museum was vetoed by the Governor of Florida. Good News, this is NOT TRUE!

The funds we would have received through the state was NOT the primary funding for our project. Additionally, the veto had nothing to do with any personal feelings toward The USS ADAMS Museum. These funds would have been an un-budgeted, bonus resource for capital funding but thanks to the community and folks like you the JHNSA has made it this far without any public funding. However, we expect to have public funding for this future National Historic Landmark to be available when the JHNSA takes ownership of the USS CHARLES F. ADAMS (DDG-2) in late 2015.

A major THANK YOU to the Duval/Northeast Delegation of the Florida Legislature who attempted to secure a $1 million do infrastructure development grant from the state to support The USS ADAMS Museum. They believed (led by State Rep. Charles McBurney and State Senator Aaron Bean) The USS ADAMS Museum was more than worthy for the State of Florida to invest in since our Return on the Investment would have been substantial. Although we were not approved by the state to receive a $1 million grant to fund our pier refurbishment project, the ADAMS remains on track to be transferred to JHNSA in 2015 with an opening in 2016. The veto did NOT stop or stall our efforts.
