On April 23, The USS ADAMS Museum graduated 18 students from their inaugural after school “Saluting Success” STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Program with The Boselli Foundation.
This hands-on educational program was funded by a grant from the Contraband Forfeiture Act through the Jacksonville Sherriff’s Office. Over the eight week course, approximately 25 children, living in high risk areas within the north side of Jacksonville, were exposed to various projects that focused on STEM disciplines.
These children studied everything from solar power to building their own wind-generating machines thanks to volunteers and additional donations from Jacksonville Electric Authority and Siemens.
Before the graduation ceremony, Tony Boselli and representatives from JSO, JEA, Siemens and The USS ADAMS Museum were invited to interact with the children and learn about what they experienced during the STEM course.
The USS ADAMS Museum’s inaugural “Saluting Success” STEM program also owes a large debt of gratitude to our volunteer teacher Al Bagocius, with Client Focused Media, who helped led the children through various STEM projects.
Thank you Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Jacksonville Electric Authority and Seimens for your support and participation in this program. In addition, thank you to The Boselli Foundation for allowing us to come in and share our program with your children.
