As a military community, it is only fitting that the Jacksonville Business Journal (JBJ) honor a few of the thousands of veterans that call Jacksonville home. Each year, the JBJ honors 25 special veterans who have positively influenced the city of Jacksonville at the Veterans of Influence Awards Ceremony.
The Jacksonville Historic Naval Ship Association (JHNSA) is proud to have not one, but three of its board members selected for the 2015 Veterans of Influence. The honorees from the JHNSA board are Stan Halter, CEO of RelMilNet and treasurer of the Board of Directors; Tracy Bible Raulerson, account executive with Siemens and vice president of the Board of Directors; and Joe Snowberger, the CEO of JHNSA. Last year, Daniel Bean with Holland & Knight, who is also the JHNSA Board president, was selected.
The Veterans of Influence are those who have given back to Jacksonville in various ways, from organizing philanthropic projects to applying their military talents to help others in the community, making a difference in the business sector and beyond.
“A Veteran of Influence is a member of the community who has served both their country and their city. It is a true privilege to be selected,” said Snowberger.
The Jacksonville Historic Naval Ship Association is working to bring the retired USS Charles F. Adams (DDG-2) home to downtown Jacksonville. The USS ADAMS Museum is scheduled to open in 2016 and will be Florida’s first and only naval warship museum. The USS ADAMS Museum will be a fitting memorial to honor all veterans, especially those who served on this special class of warship. The museum will also educate youth about STEM careers and contribute to the economic growth of Downtown Jacksonville.
The Veterans of Influence Award Ceremony was held Thursday, October 1, at the Marriott Southpoint.
