To Be Determined October – Thank you Barbara Phillips for offering us a wonderful warehouse space to store the shipboard equipment we acquired this summer for The USS ADAMS Museum. If you have a few hours this month, we could use your help moving this shipboard equipment out of storage and into our new temporary home.
Oct. 7 – ART WALK is held in Downtown Jacksonville the first Wednesday of the month from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and spans 15 blocks with museums, restaurants, bars, artists, and live music for all to enjoy. We will be at the epicenter of fun (Hemming Park) for this Oktoberfest themed event. Help attendees decorate their own USS ADAMS Museum Sailor hat and learn more about our organization. Decorated Sailor hat included!
Oct. 9 and 10 – JAXTOBERFEST is Jacksonville’s largest fall, family-friendly festival to celebrate Oktoberfest at the St. Johns Town Center. Come out for the wiener dog races and beer but stay to help us BRING HOME THE ADAMS! If you have never been to Jaxtoberfest, this is your chance! We are looking for several volunteers to man our booth during scheduled shifts for both days. Buy a ticket HERE to the festival and help us collect 90% of the proceeds for The USS ADAMS Museum.
Oct. 13 to Feb. 12 – BEACHES MUSEUM & HISTORY PARK will be featuring the USS Charles F. Adams (DDG-2) as part of their exhibit “Guardians of the Southern Frontier” to celebrate Naval Station Mayport’s history. Please come out and see an ADAMS’ class ship model, on loan from W. W. Gay, and the USS Charles F. Adams (DDG-2) ship’s bell that was donated to us last year.
Oct. 31 – RIVERSIDE ARTS MARKET. Join us for Halloween by the river. We will be handing out USS ADAMS Museum goodies to all the trick or treaters and promoting our upcoming Salute to Veterans 5K Run. It will be a fun and easy going day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteer with us all day or for a few hours. If you are interested in voluntering, please contact Ed Santiago at [email protected].
Nov. 4 – SALUTE VETERANS ART WALK. We will be back at Art Walk in Downtown Jacksonville, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hemming Park, for a special night devoted to saluting our veterans. Please come out to learn more about The USS ADAMS Museum or volunteer with us that night to help kids of all ages decorate their very own Sailor Hat.
Nov. 8 – SALUTE TO VETERANS 5K. What better way to “BRING HOME THE ADAMS!” than military units and patriotic groups running through downtown in Jacksonville’s second largest 5K run. Nov. 10 – FLORIDA DEFENSE EXPO is coming to the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Expo offers an ideal opportunity to bring military and other organizations together with businesses dedicated to providing high quality products and services to our warfighters and first-responders. Help us spread awareness at the expo about Florida’s first naval warship museum.
Nov 11 – VETERANS DAY PARADE. Join us and the City of Jacksonville in honoring our true American heroes – our veterans and active-duty military. This patriotic parade will feature more than 3,500 participants including senior military officials, military units, veterans groups, marching bands, decorative floats, giant balloons and more! We NEED VETERANS and PATRIOTIC ADAMS SUPPORTERS to march with us during the parade. If you would like to march with us at the parade, please email Bruce Foraker at [email protected].
Nov. 11 – JAX BEER WEEK will have a special night to Salute Military on Veterans Day in Hemming Park. Veterans United Brewery will be featured that night by the Jax Beer Society. Join us for a beer and spread awareness about The USS ADAMS Museum at this lively event.
